G-Unit 'Unites' for Destruction

by McKenzie Vose

December 07, 2011

What is G-Unit?  Mrs. Gleckler is heading up the effort to ignite the spark at Griggsville-Perry High School.  The student body is reviving school spirit for these Winter months in an attempt to liven up indoor sporting events.  The high school has a special section in the bleachers in the gymnasium for a cheer section.  It is even complete with the name "G-Unit" painted on the wall.  This section is reserved for the students to unite, following the name, in an attempt to help cheer on the sports teams.

Mrs. Gleckler is a teacher at the high school.  She shared, "Our main goal is to spread enthusiasm and promote school and team spirit."  She would like to increase student attendance at the sporting events, and she is very encouraged by the sixty-four members now signed up.  "We want to stress that it is something that EVERYONE can be a part of."  The organization is free to join and, with a student activity pass, students can attend home ball games for free.  The group is working to provide momentum and encouragement in a positive manner.  They kicked off the year cheering at a girl's basketball game Thursday night sporting yellow rally towels for the ladies.  Come on out to support the GPHS Basketball Teams and cheer along with the G-Unit!

A big thank you to Judith Bradshaw for providing the rally towels!  You really helped to brighten up the crowd!
