Update on Remote Learning in 2019-2020 School Year

Dear GP Families and Community:

Today, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker announced that remote learning in Illinois will be extended through the end of the 2019-20 school year.

Although in-person learning has been suspended for the remainder of the year, at Griggsville-Perry CUSD 4, I assure you our entire staff remains committed to learning and engaging with all students through remote learning, as well as continuing with our food distribution program.

Having said that, today’s announcement will result in significant and multiple scheduling changes in our district. As this announcement about the end of the school year was just made by Governor Pritzker this afternoon, it will take us a few days to sort out the many schedule details that are on the books, including spring concerts, promotion, graduation, etc. Please be patient as we work as a district to get information to you in the next several weeks.

In sports, the IHSA will meet on Tuesday to make a decision about spring sports. It is anticipated that the organization will cancel its spring seasons.

I know this is not the optimal situation for you, our students, and our community, but I have been extremely proud of all of you. The GP family is handling these challenges with patience, determination, hard work, innovation, and a great attitude.

Please continue to do your best and take care of yourselves and your families.

Sincerely,

Kent Hawley
Superintendent
