Paula James-Monroe is the Speech-Language Pathologist for the Griggsville-Perry School District, serving children ages 3 through 21. She joined the GP Special Education Team in 2004. Paula works to assess, diagnose, and treat children with disorders in articulation, language, fluency, and voice. She provides these services through Response to Intervention (RTI), Individualized Education Program (IEP), and Individual Service Plan (for children who are home-schooled). She also pushes into regular education classrooms to support growth in vocabulary skills, concept knowledge, sentence structure, and speech sound production. She believes every child deserves a voice.
Paula earned a B.A. in Speech Pathology and Audiology (1991) and an M.S. in Speech Pathology (1993) from Illinois State University. She carries the Certificate of Clinical Competence, given by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Illinois and is also a member of Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
The Griggsville area is home to Paula, as she graduated as a Tornado in 1987. Her favorite memories include running track, taking the role of the Eagle mascot during junior high basketball games, and being on the yearbook staff. She lives in Pittsfield with her husband, Russ. Together, they have five children and five grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with family, collecting Snoopy memorabilia, and going for walks.
