My School Counseling Goal:
My goal for the school counseling program at Griggsville-Perry is to provide comprehensive services to all students, making a holistic impact on student success. The program will address academic, personal/social, and college/career development of all students through individual and group meetings, and school-wide programs. Through these comprehensive services, the school counseling program will assist students in reaching their highest potential, allowing them to feel confident in their ability to succeed in all areas of life.
Services Provided:
Although I am able to provide many services for the students, these are the main things I will be focusing on throughout the school year:
Individual Student Planning: I will be meeting with EVERY high school student throughout the school year to introduce myself, go over their post-high school plan, and gauge any academic concerns/goals they may have for the year. Especially for the seniors, I will be in their homeroom frequently throughout the year to offer scholarship opportunities, go over the college application process, and offer support in planning for post-secondary life.
Academic Monitoring: I will be checking every students’ grades weekly. If I see they are struggling in any class(es), I will set up a meeting with them to assist them in getting back on track. Whether it be assisting them with organization, setting them up with a tutor, or allowing them to come to my office for extra help, I am willing to do whatever it takes to ensure each student has the opportunity to succeed. If the student’s grade(s) does not improve, I will contact their parents to together create a plan for success that can be implemented at home and school.
Responsive Services: If your child is going through a difficult time personally, I can also provide additional support. Whether it be a death in the family, parental divorce, or any other significant life change, I am here to listen and will offer my support in any way possible. Everything that a student shares while meeting with me will remain confidential, unless the student wants to harm themselves, the student wants to harm others, or someone wants to harm them. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have concerns regarding your child.
