Cody Freeman

Fifth Grade Teacher, Middle School Baseball Coach, High School Basketball Assistant Coach

Cody Freeman is a fifth grade teacher at Griggsville-Perry Middle School where he has been teaching since 2015. Cody participated with other colleagues in the National Institute for School Leadership funded by the Tracey Family Foundation. Through this program, the cohort worked to create stronger leadership teams in order to improve the school culture, and to help set and achieve long term goals within the school district. Following the completion of the program, Cody and his cohort were able to attend The Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia where they observed and brought back different learning strategies that they were able to use in the classroom at G-P. He also serves on the Building Leadership Team and the Attendance Matters Everyday Committee at GPMS. Cody is also the head coach for the Griggsville-Perry Middle School baseball team and an assistant coach for the Griggsville-Perry High School baseball team.

Cody graduated from Griggsville-Perry High School in 2010. He then attended John Wood Community College where he received his associate’s degree, and finally majored in elementary education at Illinois College, where he graduated in 2014 with his bachelor’s degree.

Cody lives in Perry with his wife, Courtney, and their two pets.
