Clarification to COVID-19 Related Policies
Includes information around returning to school after being ill, what can warrant a student being sent home
Thank you for a great first few days. Students were outstanding. Parents were supportive and understanding. Our principals, teachers, and support staff were heroes.
Please do not become complacent. I do not want people to think that since everything went well, now we can start to relax on rules or policies. We need to continue to social distance, wear a face mask, and clean.
Sending/Keeping Students Home with Symptoms--Sending students home with symptoms per Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) guidelines will be a challenge.
·A student will be sent home or should stay at home if they have even ONE symptom of COVID-19. If that student has siblings in school, those students will also be sent home.
·They cannot return to school until they:
o Have stayed home for ten days symptom free, OR
o Have a doctor’s note indicating a cause other than COVID-19, OR
o Have a negative COVID test in order to be able to return to school.
Guidelines and mandates continue to change daily. From education to quarantines to athletics, we receive changes daily, sometimes hourly. We try to calmly and effectively enforce what we have been told to do. It is not an ideal situation. Please work with us. We are doing what we are told to do. If you have questions or concerns, please call Mr. Hawley at 217-833-2352.
Self-Certification—We ask that you please use the TeacherEase app to self-certify your student(s) for COVID-19 symptoms, especially if your child rides the shuttle buses between Griggsville and Perry! This will really help us be more efficient in transporting kids safely.
Again, thanks for a great first few days. Stay safe! We want to keep kids in our buildings as long as we can, and it will take all of us working together to do so.
